The G6 Alliance has unveiled its new port rotations on the trans-Pacific following the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission’s approval of its bid to expand its network to the trade lane.

The enlarged cooperation starts in May with six coordinated services in the Asia-North America East Coast trade.

More than 50 vessels in the 4,500- and 8,000-TEU (20-foot-equivalent unit) class will be deployed, connecting about 30 ports in Asia, the United States and Canada East Coast, Central America, Caribbean, Indian Sub-continent, Mediterranean, and the Middle East.

Three of the services will transit the Suez Canal, while the other three loops will sail via the Panama Canal.

The new loops will merge and revise several existing services currently offered separately by The New World Alliance and the Grand Alliance, plus one new service, the CEC.

The total capacity of the new G6 Alliance service will be about the same as that of the existing trans-Pacific services separately offered by the two groups.

“The cooperation enables the six member lines to offer an even more comprehensive and tightly meshed service network in this key trade with competitive transit times and increased sailing frequency,” the member-carriers said in a statement.

The two services APX, provided by The New World Alliance, and PAX, offered by the Grand Alliance, will not be affected by the new cooperation, the statement added.
