Over the first four months of 2022, cargo volume at Hong Kong International Airport dropped by 7.6% to 1.4 million tons.

HKIAHong Kong International Airport (HKIA) reported a slight increase in cargo throughput in 2013, even as  traffic figures for December last year remained unchanged year-over-year.

HKIA operator Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) said cargo volumes in 2013 rose 2.4 percent from 2012, reaching 4.12 million tonnes.

Cargo tonnage handled last month reached 371,000 tonnes, down from 372,000 tonnes in the same month of 2012.

Both imports and exports registered 1 percent year-on-year growth in December, while transshipments dropped by 6 percent, said an HKIA statement.

Stanley Hui Hon-chung, chief executive officer of AAHK, said, this year “will be another challenging year for HKIA, as demand for air services continues to increase.”
