UnithaiShipping and logistics firm Unithai of Thailand has partnered with Chin Corp of Myanmar in a bid to expand its service web in Myanmar.

The newly formed joint venture will enable the two partners to collaborate in developing shipping and logistics solutions and tap into Myanmar’s rapid industrialization and economic growth, said Khun Arthit Pathumsuwan, Unithai group managing director.

“The benefits and opportunities to be gained will enhance the further growth of Unichin in shipping and related business activities in this region,” he added.

On the other hand, supply chain company Menlo Worldwide Logistics has opened a multi-user warehouse in Shah Alam Section 15, Selangor, Malaysia.

The new facility occupies more than 100,000 square feet of storage space and will employ 60 people locally. The state-of-the-art warehouse will provide inventory storage, local and regional distribution, and additional value-added services.

The new storage center supports Menlo’s ongoing expansion activities in Asia. Said Desmond Chan, director of South Asia: “Malaysia represents an excellent growth opportunity for Menlo. As our customers continue to develop their businesses here, we are investing in, and establishing, an increasing presence to meet those needs for quality warehousing and distribution services management.”

Engineering and electronics company Bosch will occupy a section of the warehouse, with the remaining space earmarked for new business.

The Selangor venue was chosen partly for its location, being close to Port Klang, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and Malaysia’s Central Business District in Jalan Wong Ah Fook.
