Intra-Asia carrier MCC Transport has launched a new Yangon feeder service to improve connectivity between the growing economy of Myanmar and the global marketplace through transshipment in Southeast Asia.

This is the first service to the country by MCC, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.P. Moller-Maersk, after sanctions were lifted by  Europe and the United States last year.

The new RG-1 feeder service will have a 14-day rotation, calling Port Klang, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Yangon, and Port Klang.

The service is a partnership with CMA-CGM, with both carriers each deploying a vessel to ensure weekly departures.

It offers “stable and frequent” connections between Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city and most important commercial center, and the extensive MCC network through the main hub ports in Southeast Asia, the company said.

The MCC vessel Malte Rambow made her first call in Yangon on July 31. She will proceed to Port Klang and Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia, and then to Singapore before returning to Yangon.
