Multisectoral body to help elevate BOC services, standards

BOC Multisectoral Governing CouncilThe Bureau of Customs (BOC) has convened a multisectoral council that will provide expert advice on how the agency can achieve its goal of becoming a customs administration of global standards.

The Multi-sectoral Governing Council (MSGC) will also assist BOC “to move forward with realizing its vision by providing suggestions and external perspectives, and contribute initiatives to assist the BOC achieve its targets of performance.”

Convened on December 6, MSGC is chaired by Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero and co-chaired by Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) founder and chairman emeritus Dr. Jesus Estanislao.

Members include ICD chairman Francis G. Estrada; Philippine National Bank board member Atty. Federico C. Pascual; University of the Philippines president Atty. Danilo L. Concepcion; Ateneo de Manila University vice president for university and global relations Fr. Jose M. Cruz, SJ; Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff member Bishop Noel A. Pantoja; Philippine National Railways official development assistance and public-private partnership project adviser to the chairman of the board Rommel C. Gavieta; Office of the Senate President consultant and ICD member Gina Dela Vega-Cruz; Kapisanan ng Brodkaster ng Pilipinas’ Nathan Kinsella; Royal Cargo, Inc. chief executive officer Michael Kurt Raeuber; former Customs commissioner and E-Konek Pilipinas, Inc. president Guillermo Parayno, Jr.; Asia Broadcast Satellite’s Garie Pimentel; Punongbayan Araullo co-founder Benjamin R. Punongbayan; and Joaquin Quintos IV.

BOC Multisectoral Governing Council“I am open to all the members of the MSGC for any suggestions that will further improve the Customs services,” Guerrero said in a statement.

MSGC members took their oath on December 6 and were updated on the transformational efforts initiated by BOC and its implementation of a strategy roadmap geared towards full automation of customs operational processes.
