COMPETITION in freight forwarding just got tighter, as a new batch of domestic freight forwarders (DFFs) and international freight forwarders (IFFs) joined the industry after obtaining accreditation in the first five months of the year.

Data from the Philippine Shipper’s Bureau showed 13 new DFFs and 21 new IFFs were accredited from January to May 31 this year. Most of them are based in Metro Manila; Mandaue, Cebu; Davao City and Clark Freeport Zone.

The newly accredited pure domestic players are B2B Cargo Care Corp.; CBL Freight Forwarder Courier Express Int’l Inc.; Green Star Logistics Inc.; JAS Intermodal Logistics Inc.; JBA Isotank Freight Forwarder Inc. (formerly JBA Isotank Services Inc); and JRMT Resources Corp.

The newly accredited IFFs are AGX Express Philippines Inc.; Cargo Liner International Freight Inc; Ecotechphil Corp.; Expolanka Freight (Philippines) Inc.; FACF Parcel Delivery; Hornett Global Logistics Corp.; Philippine Hongfei Logistics Group of Companies Inc.; Roxas Cargo Express; Seven66 Corp.; Starbox International Logistics Corp.; Synet Global Logistics Inc.; U MAC Forwarders Express Inc.; Usiship Philippines Inc.; and XYZ Global Express Corp.

Seven of the newly accredited freight forwarders serve both domestic and foreign markets. They are Airlandsea Global Logistics Inc.; Eurolinks Cargo Logistics Services Inc; Everstar International Logistics Inc; Genex Cargo Forwarder; Globalcargo International Corp.; Move It Multimodal and Logistics Inc.; and Vanwil Cargo Forwarder Inc..

The new freight forwarders bring the number of accredited DFFs in the country to 162 and accredited IFFs to 585.

Nine of the new forwarders, Airlandsea, Eurolinks, Globalcargo, Move It, Ecotechphil, Expolanka, Philippine Hongfei, XYZ and Synet were also accredited as non-vessel operators.
