The construction — part of Phase I of the modernization program of North Port, formerly known as North Harbor — is expected to be completed next year.
“The PTB is only one of the major projects of MNHPI for the port this year aside from the rebuilding of piers and dredging,” MNHPI chief executive officer Richard Barclay said.
“The PTB will be able to accommodate at least 2,000 passengers at any given time and with a provision to further increase it.”
Other projects in the pipeline are the P500-million rehabilitation of Pier 4 as well as improvement of the marine slipway and Pier 16 in time for the July arrival of three cranes. The cranes, which cost approximately P400 million, were pre-owed and built in Australia.
MNHPI is also set to develop the container yard, expected to be completed in August 2013, and construct the central Operations Center.
