PSBThe Philippine Shippers’ Bureau (PSB) has accredited new members of the seafreight forwarding community while remaining determined to apprehend erring operators.

Data from PSB showed eight international seafreight forwarders and three domestic players were accredited in the first quarter of 2014, for a total of 614 international and 184 domestic players.

The eight international forwarders are Accurate Freight International Inc., D’Excel International Forwarder, Inc., Empire Container Logistics, Inc., Ex-Works Cargo Services, Federalfortunes Worldwide Logistics Services Crop., FM Global Logistics (Phils.) Inc., JF Hillebrand Philippines, Inc., and Macnels CDO, Inc.

The newly added domestic seafreight forwarders are Quickdels Transport Services Corp., Speedtrack Freight Logistics, and FM Global.

On another note, PSB, as of March 28, had filed formal charges against freight forwarders operating without accreditation, 46 of which are foreign consolidators and 49 Philippine counterparts.

Eight accredited freight forwarders were also issued show cause orders while four others were charged with violating PSB Memorandum Circular 01-2005 for overcharging.

MC 01-2005,  issued in May 2005, prescribes the standard freight forwarding services, rates and charges for containerized shipments.–– Roumina M. Pablo
