SITC Container Lines is introducing a new service that connects Manila to two of Asia’s biggest economies, China and Japan.
The CJP2 will replace the CPS service, and will commence with a voyage to Manila on December 20 (Manila South Harbor). Departure is on December 21.
"The service gives us better access to southern and northern China and allows us to concentrate on Japan-bound cargoes," SITC commercial manager Arnie De Guzman told PortCalls.
Specifically, Filipino shippers will gain access to industries along the Pearl River Delta in China, including those in Huizhou, Foshan, Shunde, Nanhai, Shekou, Jiangmen, Huangpu, Sanshui, Zhongshan, Panyu, Nansha, Sihui, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Zhuhai, Guangxi, Guangzhou, Zhanjiang, and Japanese ports like Hakata, Moji, Osaka and Kobe.
Port of rotation will be Shanghai, Xiamen, Shantou, Manila South Harbor, Manila North Harbor, Hong Kong, Shekou, Hakata, Moji, Osaka, Kobe, Shidao and Qingdao.
Four vessels – the SITC Dalian, Qingdao, Yokohama and Cape Charles – will be deployed for the service, each with an estimated capacity of 800 TEUs.
SITC aims to carry about 600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of inbound cargoes and at least 100 TEUs outbound cargoes weekly on the CJP2, De Guzman said.
Shipments expected to be carried on the Hong Kong leg route are consolidation cargoes, scrap metal, mangoes, plastic scraps, and mineral ores. For Japan, cargoes will include automotive parts, food stuff, and housing materials, and for China, a mixture of mineral shipments, scraps plastics and metals and coconut-based products.
