Last August 31, we reported a rise in Philippine exporter compliance with electronic-to-mobile (e2m) Automated Export Declaration System (AEDS) based on the number of electronic export declarations lodged through the various customs-accredited value-added service providers (VASP).

When e2m AEDS became mandatory in all Philippine seaports last June, the number of electronic export declaration lodgments was only around 2,000. Two months later, this was estimated by some industry observers at nearly 25,000.

As of 31 October, the unofficial estimate was 47,000 electronic EDs, broken down (based on port of loading) into:

Manila International Port –           62%

Key Mindanao ports       –           20%

Cebu International Port   –           6%

Port of Manila    –           6%

NAIA (pilot participants)  –           3%

Other ports        –           3%

The other ports include Batangas, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Dumaguete, Surigao, Bislig, Nasipit and Zamboanga.
