US-based logistics firm United Parcel Service (UPS) is not looking at expanding despite optimism exhibited by from most local businesses, particularly small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

UPS country manger Tim Gohoc said the company can still accommodate demand although if opportunities arise, it is open to expansion.

“The business of UPS in the Asia-Pacific region, including the Philippines, has been growing in the last six months,” Gohoc said. “We see additional opportunities this year in the Philippines with the strong optimism of almost all business sectors.”

Last week, UPS unveiled results of its Asia Business Monitor which placed SMEs in the Philippines as the most bullish in the region.

According to the survey, 85% of Philippine SMEs see more opportunities in the country this year compared to last year, thanks to the election of the new government.

UPS’ Clark facility — which used to be the company’s Asia-Pacific hub before the relocation to China — remains its major facility.
